Testimony: Fleeing Not Homosexuality, But Sin (Jackie Hill Perry)

Tonight I could not sleep. In situations like this, I would normally launch Youtube to watch family vlogs or makeup tutorials, but tonight was different. I felt the urge to click on the link for an interview with Priscilla Shire. I had no idea who the interview was with nor what I was about so watch, so I was pleasantly surprised when Jackie Hill Perry was introduced. I have followed this former lesbian--now wife and mother--very closely. Her poetry has blown me away, her authenticity has refreshed me, her zeal for the word of God, and more importantly, for God himself has convicted me. So often her story is represented as salvation from lesbianism and a "solving", so to speak, of a gender identity crisis. I beg to argue that her story is so much more than that. Her story is my story. I was addicted to relationships. I fornicated. I gossiped. I envied. I sinned. We all sin. Jackie Hi(ll Perry demonstrates that she couldn't be "saved" by just isolating one abomination listed in the Bible. Salvation for her, and for us all, means fleeing all sin, defeating the flesh, taking up the cross to follow Christ and bring Him glory. Her story, is our story. May you listen well.

"...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
